Annie Wright Schools

Honoring Tradition with an Eye on the Future

Founded in 1884 as an all-girls boarding academy for future leaders, Annie Wright has a rich history of educating and supporting young trailblazers.

Educating Boys and Girls

And its reach continues to widen. An all-boys upper school was added in the Fall (2017), expanding the existing preschool, primary school, middle school, and all-girls secondary education facilities. The project includes a 25,000 square-foot building slated to open fall 2019, which will eventually serve 150 male students—the same as the girls’ program.

A co-ed structure from preschool to eighth grade and single-gender secondary classes—all with 48 or fewer students per grade—focus on academic development.

“We really make it our priority to know our kids, how they learn, and what excites them, and we help them determine what it is that they are going to do with that passion that they developed here,” shared Head of Annie Wright Schools, Christian Sullivan.

World-class Academics and Resources

Annie Wright upper and primary scholars receive a stellar education authorized by the International Baccalaureate —a globally recognized organization that develops the intellectual, personal, emotional, and social skills needed to live, learn, and work amidst globalization. Annie Wright students have a 100% college acceptance rate, which proves the program’s success.

“We are taking kids from all different varieties of background and getting them into schools—US colleges that are a really good fit for them,” said Sullivan.

College and life preparation goes beyond AP classes, with business, entrepreneurship, and internship courses.

With an indoor pool, gym, state-of-the-art science and technology labs, art and music studios, theatre, and gardens, young scholars can explore non-academic interests as well.

Widening Students’ Global Perspectives

Annie Wright has a diverse student body which includes day and boarding students, representing 12 countries and varied social, cultural, and economic backgrounds. This multi-cultural campus is enhanced with language studies in Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese, and study abroad opportunities in Spain, France, China, New Zealand, and Chile.

Humanities trips, such as art exploration in New Mexico, journalism studies in Los Angeles and New York, Global Politics seminars in Washington, D.C., and cultural exploration in Cuba, help students gain a better understanding of the world and their place in it.
