Camden Catholic High School

International Students Tackle Sports, Clubs, and Academics

The option to take online classes through a virtual high school program—as well as 11 AP courses and 26 honors courses—make Camden Catholic High School (CCHS) an academically enticing choice. But at its core, this coeducational New Jersey high school is a family—and that is precisely what draws students from around the world to attend CCHS.

With approximately 800 students, experiences like mandatory service-learning hours and Leadership Academy courses bring Camden Catholic students together.

“Our school is over 125 years old and our core values are honor, faith and loyalty. We want students to develop into leaders of the world who are interested in continuing to learn throughout their lives,” explained Dean of International Students, Diane Crowell.

Embracing Diversity

Camden Catholic is 7% international and students are encouraged to participate in arts, clubs, service-learning experiences, and athletics.

For those who can’t find the club of their dreams to take part in, the school works with students to create new clubs to meet their interests, such as the recently formed ping-pong club and Ultimate Frisbee club. Nearly two-thirds of students take part in school athletics, and more than half are involved in the arts.

Latin American students have always thrived at Camden Catholic, and the school would like to extend a welcome to more Latino students. “One of the things we pride ourselves in is diversity. We want our students to be able to exchange with students from all over the world. I think there’s a lot that our students can teach [international students] and that they can teach us,” Crowell stated.

Campus Life

Camden Catholic High School is situated on 33 acres of land in the safe, suburban town of Cherry Hill, and offers both day and boarding options. Students enjoy excellent facilities including sports fields, a gymnasium, music rooms, a recently renovated dining hall, information commons (library), and technology labs. The new information commons is a collaborative learning space which enables students to utilize digital resources for learning.
