Middlesex School—Finding the Promise that Lies Hidden in Every Student

Middlesex SchoolA Place to Discover Passions, Talents, and Yourself

On the edge of Concord, Massachusetts, just 20 miles outside Boston, is the sprawling green campus of Middlesex School, an independent secondary school for boarding and day students in grades 9 to12. Founded in 1901, Middlesex is a non-sectarian school with a positive sense of tradition and mission.

With small-school intimacy and big-school opportunity, Middlesex is a school that has broadened its national and international reach while benefiting from its local surroundings—the human and cultural capital of the Boston/Cambridge area. The student body is made up of 405 students, representing 25 states and 19 countries.

Well-rounded Education and Students at Middlesex School

The students pursue an education built upon a curriculum of outstanding breadth and depth. If you peek inside a classroom, you’ll see an intimate group of passionate students as they discuss, analyze, listen, laugh, strive, and thrive.

Middlesex School, both in the present and in the past, has preferred exposure to many areas to specialization in one. The school believes a transparent and familiar community is an ethical community. From the start, its mission has been to “find the promise that lies hidden” in every student, and that message of individuality, hope, and possibility guides us today.

Myriad Opportunities at Middlesex School

The school’s facilities foster a cherished sense of community and students are encouraged to participate in numerous extracurricular activities. Stop by the theater to catch a full-ensemble Broadway musical. Head over to the non-denominational Chapel to hear a speech from a senior, or maybe some Beethoven from the chamber music ensemble. Check out the Student Center and shoot some pool before the school packs in for an a cappella jam or head out to the fields to enjoy some athletic competition—elite or otherwise—where every student wears the Middlesex colors with pride.

Students who come to Middlesex find a place full of opportunity, challenge, and friendship. It’s a place to take risks and become a leader. A place to discover passions, talents, and yourself.  A place—as its founder so aptly described—“to find your promise.”
