St. Margarets School, Where Girls Become Their Best

Cultivating Independent Thinkers with a Global Perspective at St. Margarets School

St. Margaret’s School values a girl’s spirit, celebrates her uniqueness, and respects her views. Grounded in Christian values, St. Margaret’s provides a learning environment where girls know they belong, are challenged and supported to believe in themselves, and are prepared to become their best.

A Culture of Achievement at St. Margaret’s School

Through its college-preparatory program, St. Margaret’s provides the opportunity for girls in grades 8–12 to develop their intellectual strengths, build study skills, become independent thinkers, and achieve.

With 120 students, class sizes are small and girls receive individual attention. The academic program is readiness-based and designed to meet the needs of each girl. International students have the choice of three tiers of ESL courses: introductory, intermediate, and advanced. Course schedules can be tailored to the needs of each student with offerings such as Honors and  Advanced Placement (AP) courses, independent study, and exchange and travel programs.

A Supportive Community

At St. Margaret’s, girls can be themselves and make lasting friendships as part of a close community. Outside the classroom, a wide range of activities both on- and off-campus are always taking place—from social events and club meetings to community service projects, sports, and relaxing on the river or at the pool.

Located in the Mid-Atlantic region of the US, St. Margaret’s is in an area rich in cultural, historic, and natural resources. Trips to Richmond, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach, New York City, and Washington, D.C. are some of the exciting destinations nearby.

Global Perspective

Girls feel safe at St. Margaret’s School as part of a global community, representing 14 countries. Providing a welcoming, inclusive experience for girls is essential to its international program, one of the most established among American boarding schools.

“From the minute a girl steps on campus, she is greeted warmly and invited to share her background, heritage, and stories. We kick-off each year with orientation for international families and support them throughout the year,” remarked Director of Enrollment Management, Cameron Sgroi.

Cultures, traditions, history, cuisine, and more are part of St. Margaret’s global experience the community celebrates. See some of the fun they share at their International Festival.

St. Margaret’s School is accredited by the Virginia Association of Independent Schools.
