Innovative Learning and Cultural Enrichment

For more than 25 years, the Intensive English Institute at Ball State University has helped international students get on a fast track to pursuing college degrees in the United States.

Innovative teaching is at the core of the institutes mission. This dedication is found in the institutes robust six-level integrated language curriculum and summer language culture study program. Both learning paths combine classroom-based researchfocused on student participationwith lessons that build communication skills for daily life, not just successfully completing exercises in a textbook.

Depending on their academic goals, international students may apply to the institute or to Ball State University. Candidates who need to improve their English proficiency before beginning degree programs may be admitted conditionally to Ball State, while prospective students who assess at the highest level of English may be eligible for Academic Bridge (attending part-time English and part-time degree courses in tandem).

All program participants can join cultural excursions to explore their new surroundingslike a trip to the famous Indianapolis 500 Motor Speedway. Resources like homestays with families and tutoring help ease their transition as students form connections with other students and people in the community.
